Welcome to the ultimate guide to learning electronics and coding! This tutorial is designed to take you from "Zero" to "Hero" with the Arduino Mega.
We are going to build 4 projects, starting simple and finishing with a real game.
Before we can build robots, we need to set up our tools.
The IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is the program where we write code.
- Go to the Arduino Software Page.
- Download Arduino IDE 2.x for macOS.
- Open the file and drag the Arduino app into your Applications folder.
- Plug your Arduino Mega into the computer using the USB cable.
- Open the Arduino IDE.
- Look at the top menu bar. You need to select your board:
- Board: Select "Arduino Mega or Mega 2560".
- Port: On a Mac, it usually looks like
/dev/cu.usbmodem....
- Electricity: We are using low power (5 Volts), so it won't hurt you.
- Short Circuits: Never let a wire connect "5V" directly to "GND" without something in between (like a light or resistor). It can make the board get hot and stop working!

We start with the "Hello World" of electronics: making a light flash.
- The Brain: Understanding
setup()(wake up) vsloop()(daily routine). - Digital Output: Turning power ON and OFF (
digitalWrite). - Time: Freezing the program with
delay(). - Variables: Using names to store numbers (so we can change speed easily).

forloops to count.

Now we make the Arduino listen to us!
- Digital Input: Checking if a button is pressed (
digitalRead). - Pullups: Using the internal magnets (
INPUT_PULLUP) to simplify wiring. - Logic: Using
ifstatements to make decisions ("If button is pressed, say hello"). - Serial Monitor: Sending text messages from the Arduino to your computer screen.

- PWM (Pulse Width Modulation): Fading a light instead of just On/Off (
