On page 11 we learn that in the book "Thinking in Systems: A Primer" by Donella H. Meadows a system is defined as:

an interconnected set of elements organized in a way that achieves something.

This makes options 3 a viable candidate.

Furthermore, since celestial bodies are called a system as well neither option 1 nor option 2 are valid.

This also excludes option 4.
