Cloud billing issue when deploying

I get quite some times when deploying:
Error: Request to https://cloudbilling.googleapis.com/v1/projects/acro-prod-8c72c/billingInfo had HTTP Error: 429, Quota exceeded for quota metric 'All requests' and limit 'All requests per minute' of service 'cloudbilling.googleapis.com' for consumer 'project_number:563584335869'.

We do have quite some functions in our project (+-40 or so) and have +- 20 to 40 releases per day, so that makes for 1600 function deploys.
But I would hope that should not be an issue?

Sorry to hear you're encountering this issue. There was also a report recently opened up that I think might be similar to this #9879. Did you ever encounter this issue before, or did it suddenly start occurring recently?

@aalej it has started appearing recently indeed. It doesn't always fail though, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't

@LanderBeeuwsaert I was having the exact same error. It turned out the issue was the schema I was using for my functions section of firebase.json. Switching from functions as an array to functions as an object solved my issue. IDK if it's the same issue for you, but I'd try looking there.

However the functions part of our firebase.json looks like this:

so the only arrays we have there are predeploy and ignore; are you referring to those?

Also have the same problem, managed to deploy to our test project, but getting this error when deploying to production project.

As a workaround, you can avoid the shared quota by using your own project ID. Set the following environment variable:

This! + enabling the Cloud Billing API (in the cloud console) for the project, solved the problem for me.

Sorry @LanderBeeuwsaert, I think we have a different source for our error. Yours looks like ours does now.

We increased the quota that is used and these errors should be reduced now.

Reopen this if you continue seeing issues, but it should be good now! (And we've got some retry logic just in case that'll go out in the next release)
