Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on a fire spread model and I'm trying to visualize the output, but I'm having trouble getting the specific overlay effect seen in the level_set_demo1 example.

How can I configure my model to get the same visual effect as the demo, do I need to add more rasters on QGIS?

Sorry, which level set demo are you referring to? We may be bouncing between repositories here.

Also, your level set domain looks odd to me. Can you please attach your input file (use *.txt extension). Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply! For the level_set_demo1, I was referring to the example found here:https://github.com/firemodels/cad/tree/master/Case_Studies/Wildland_Fire_Spread_Example/FDS_Files.
I've attached my input file below. I had to change the extension to .txt so GitHub would accept the upload. I'm still learning the ropes, so I definitely appreciate any feedback on why the domain looks odd or how I can correct the setup to get that flat map overlay effect!

I have another question regarding landfire.gov. What kind of data do you usually pull for a simulation? So far, I've only been getting the elevation and fuel source (13 Anderson Fire Behavior Fuel Models). Are there any other datasets you'd recommend?

Do you have this file

That is the satellite overlap that one needs to make the image you show above.

Usually, elevation and fuels are what are needed. We have yet to link directly with weather data, which would be a huge contribution if you want to get into the research end of things. Right now, you have to manually look up the weather information and add it to the input file.

I looks like you set zmin=0 and then extended the upper part of the domain to cover the elevation from QGIS. But you only need to set zmin=min(elevation). You will need to extend your domain in the vertical direction to get better wind field results.

Also, you need to have the lateral boundaries match, or be inside of, the solid extent.
