I'm not entirely sure what the root cause of this issue is, but from what I can tell, it looks like the response body from Fleet instance's /api/v1/fleet/me endpoint did not contain a user object.
I will update this endpoint to throw a better error when the response from the Fleet instance does not include the expected/required values.
