Rippling Integration

  • @noahtalerman: In the interim users could built a custom workflow using a third party automation tool (ex. Tines) to catch a Rippling webhook (if Ripping has webhooks) and trigger an action on a host using the Fleet API
  • @noahtalerman: Eventually they’d like a direct two-way integration between Fleet and Rippling to manage assignments, locks, wipes, and related MDM tasks seamlessly during employee lifecycle events.

Problem

As we work to consolidate multiple vendor MDMs to just Fleet, Rippling integration is the last missing piece. Rippling has a pretty good two-way sync API available through their app-shop, but might be missing specific APIs for third-party MDMs ... since they offer their own MDM.

It would be great if employee onboarding/offboarding/etc could carry out MDM tasks (device assignment, locking, wiping, etc).

What have you tried?

We're exploring how to do this via Rippling --> AzureAD --> Fleet, but a direct integration would be infinitely nicer.

Does Rippling have webhooks?

The developer guide says webhooks are only available to App Shop integrations:

But they have a recipie that shows the Rippling Workflow Automator can make webhook calls on employee terminations (which means hires, role/group changes, and a million other things as well):

... to make sure I understand, the initial proposal is we could feed Rippling webhooks to Tines and Fleet has a Tines integration? Is there a direct webhook receiver in Fleet that doesn't require an intermediary?
