Try disabling auto-update at the start of the app:

Can somebody please give a repro: 1) a program that works fast on 0.28.x and 2) the same program that works slow on 0.80.x.

This is an older version of this project, but it ran buttery smooth on version 0.28.3, but hangs on almost every button press version 0.80.0 and 0.80.2. I haven't tried the newer releases beyond that.

Having ft.context.disable_auto_update() helps this issues, and trying to remove page.update() calls improved performance as well, but sometimes it cannot be avoided.

I hope there's a solution soon, as newer Flet has so many useful things I'd like to use, especially with the Canvas control.. Let me know if I can help in any way.
