Sample letter for asking for sponsorship & hosting:
Hello!
SF.rb is a new Ruby user group in San Francisco, and we're looking for hosts and sponsors! Do you think [COMPANY] would be interested?
Here's what we're thinking:
RSVP limit of 75 people, expected attendance of 50-60 people
6:30-9:00pm on [INSERT DATE HERE]
We will have volunteers to handle check in downstairs as needed for security
Happy to put [COMPANY'S] logo on the Meetup event and give [COMPANY] five minutes to pitch whatever they want, in exchange for [COMPANY'S] hosting and buying us dinner :D
More details about the meetup:
SF.rb (pronounced “sf dot rb”) is a monthly meetup where Rubyists and their friends come to talk about programming. We host short (5-7 minute) and long (20 min) talks on topics ranging from Ruby itself to Ruby-adjacent topics, like devops, front end, human beings, or others!
We expect to have one 5-minute talk and two 20-minute talks
