Hi 👋

This repo holds the new version of foojay.io: the site wlil move from WordPress to a static Hugo site that builds straight from the files here. While that transition runs, the current site stays up at foojay.io and the new one is being tried out at foojayio.github.io/website.

Discussions is where the conversation lives — both the comments under the articles and everything about the site itself.

Comments under the articles

Every article on the new site has a comment box at the bottom, powered by giscus. Post a comment there and it becomes a comment in a discussion in this repo — one discussion per article, in the Blog Comments category. Sign in with GitHub and that's it: no separate account, no ads, no tracking. Reactions work the same way.

Two practical notes:

• Please don't open threads in Blog Comments by hand. giscus finds an article's thread by a key derived from the article's slug, so a hand-made thread isn't picked up — the article page would keep showing an empty comment section right next to it.
• Comment on the article page, not here, when it's about the article. It ends up in the same thread either way, but starting from the article keeps the link between the two intact.

The old WordPress comments

The ~580 comments from the WordPress site are being moved into these discussions, so cutover doesn't reset every article to zero comments. They're posted by the foojay account, because we have no way to know which GitHub account belongs to which commenter, and each one opens with a line like:

If one of them is yours and you'd rather it wasn't here, say so in the thread and we'll remove it.

Everything else

• 💬 General — anything about the site: something looks broken, a link is dead, an image is missing, a redirect went wrong.
• 💡 Ideas — suggestions for the site itself.
• 🙏 Q&A — questions about writing for foojay and about the new pull-request-based publishing flow.
• 📣 Announcements — migration milestones and changes that affect authors.

Publishing an article works through a pull request now: CONTRIBUTING.md is the short version, and How to submit your next article is the full guide. If any of it is unclear, ask in Q&A — that's a documentation bug on our side, not a mistake on yours.
