FCBC is an open initiative to build a rights-clean image AI — one whose training data is contributed by creators with consent, whose process is open, and whose existence is justified by the people whose work makes it possible.
This repository is the canonical source for the FCBC manifesto, the living whitepaper drafts, and the public decision log. It is built in public.

This is Week 1 — the moment Build in Public begins in full. The manifesto is finalized at MANIFESTO.md. The whitepaper chapters (00–08) in whitepaper/ are placeholders today, with each chapter's intent documented inside. There is no model yet. There is no dataset yet. We are building the thinking in public, and we are inviting creators to build alongside us.

- Rights-Clean by Design — No copyrighted material is used without consent. This is a design-time commitment, not a hoped-for outcome.
- Open Process — What we collect, why, and how it's used is traceable by anyone.
- Creators as Co-Trainers — Creators contribute, with incentives, to the data on which the model is built. Inspired by the way Twitter's translation program once put users in charge of localizing the platform.

FCBC is initiated by foriio, a portfolio platform for creators. We have spent years working alongside creators who care deeply about how their work moves through the world. FCBC is the move we are making for the AI moment.
FCBC stands for For Creators, By Creators, in the tradition of declarations that put a community in charge of its own institutions.
The manifesto and whitepaper content in this repository are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0). You are free to share and adapt with attribution, provided derivatives are released under the same license.
The future FCBC model and dataset will use separate, purpose-built licenses designed to compensate contributors and ensure sustainability. See docs/DECISIONS.md for the rationale.
