The app hangs after device screen was turned off and back on

Whenever I try to use this app, at first it works perfectly fine - loads up, connects, updates channels etc.
The problem appears once I close or minimize the app and go away, the device screen turns off by itself due to being unused. Once I get back, turn on the device and attempt to run the Forkgram, the application won't run. It shows just white screen and that's all.
Before I updated the app, while hanging it showed 'org.telegram.uiLaunchActivity' or something like that instead of app name in the top of the application window.
I tried to:

• force stop the app;
• clear the cache;
• clear the app local database, it freed up quite a bit of space, but nothing more;
• update app to the latest version from F-Droid repository
• install a task manager app with auto-kill applications feature, so that it would kill this app whenever device goes to sleep mode
  As a result, I always get the same problem. It even became more frequent recently, so it used to happen from time to time, now I'd say always. The only way to run this app and get the application running instead of white screen is rebooting my device.

What could I do to stop this? I'd like to use this app, still so far looks like I can't unless rebooting each time I'd like to read the messenger.

I use device with Android 7 Nougat, AllView H802 LTE

Right, so the problem seems to go away if using Force Stop each time after closing the app. Then it runs just fine the next time

Looks like that means that my task manager app I found doesn't have "task-kill" feature properly implemented. So I'd need to find another app to do this automatically. However, this is a workaround anyway.

Still, I don't get why would I have to forcefully kill the app before the device goes in sleep mode, it used to work fine without this.

Thanks for your input, looks like I'd need to uninstall my current version, then install this one to test it. I'll write the results once I have something to share

Right, so I tried this version and, unfortunately, seems that it behaves in the same way as before.
Small detail is that if I run Manage Space command from Android built-in App Info application which is in Main menu - Settings - Apps - Fork client - Storage - Manage Space, I get the Telegram window to manage space without any problems. So I can set up how often I want cache media to be auto-removed, I can remove local database etc. But I can't get from that window to the rest of application since it's not supposed to be used that way.
I noticed this Manage Space behavior before with my previous version of the app.

Then, if I reboot the device and run the app, I see that channels last time were updated at that moment when I opened the application first time. So it's like working, but it's not displaying me anything.
I don't know, how could I maybe find a log of some kind of what happens there when I run the app?
