Hello.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the developer for their excellent work. I’ve been using forks of this messenger for a long time now, and I consider Forkgram to be the best choice because of its timely updates and features that I find indispensable, such as forwarding messages without the sender’s name.
But, unfortunately, after some update (it’s been quite a while—more than a few months), my smartphone started getting really hot, and the battery started draining rapidly. My smartphone is over 5 years old (Snapdragon 845), but the battery is still in good condition.
I turned off all effects and eventually completely restricted background activity, but that’s not an option at all, since notifications stopped coming in until I open the app.
And finally, today I decided to check if competitors have the same issue.
For comparison, I chose an alternative available on F-Droid — Mercurygram.
To measure the load, I used the top console utility in the Termux app. Both your app and Mercurygram showed periodic spikes in load up to 100% or more, for example, while actively scrolling through the feed. At the same time, Mercurygram shows significantly better results in terms of heat generation and battery consumption (there is almost no heat, or if there is, it is minimal).
