Something like Anymatrix: An Extensible MATLAB Matrix Collection should be available in Fortran, maybe in stdlib. The guide has details. I know that functions have been added to test if matrices are have certain properties, such as being tridiagonal. Having code for test matrices facilitates the testing of code that performs operations specific to matrices with certain properties.
