GSoC 2026 Project 1: starting local setup for docs-generation work, looking for preferred first contribution

Hi everyone,

I’m preparing a GSoC 2026 application for Project 1: Improving FURY Documentation Generation.

I’m starting my local setup on the v2 branch and planning to begin by reproducing the docs build, auditing warnings, and checking for tutorial/static image-generation issues. I want to make an initial contribution before the application period, and I want to make sure I start in the most useful place.

My current plan is to focus on one of these:

• docs build warning audit / cleanup
• a small tutorial image-generation fix
• investigation of an open docs-generation issue such as Doc Generation Error - HTTP Error 429 #924, if that is still a good first target

Before I go too far, I wanted to ask:

1. Is there a preferred first contribution area for this project right now?
2. Would maintainers rather I start with warning reduction, tutorial image-generation fixes, or a specific open issue?
3. Are there any current docs-generation issues that would be especially helpful for a first contribution on v2?

I’ll share my local build results once I finish reproducing the docs pipeline.

Yes there are you can try building the docs on local and you will be faced with warnings in building.
