+1 I also very much always disliked that Wine bottles clutter up my User /Documents directory with Game data & save folders! |

Thanks, good suggestion, and the +1 makes the case. Today the environment's Documents is a link to your macOS Documents, which is why those folders land there. I'm adding a per-environment option, off by default so nobody's existing saves move, that turns it into a real folder inside the environment. Until it ships, the manual version works too: replace the link at Library/Application Support/Highball/bottles//drive_c/users//Documents with a real folder of the same name and games will save there. Just keep in mind that saves inside an environment go away with it if you delete the environment. |

This is in the 0.9.34 beta (Settings, then Get beta builds). Environment settings, Compatibility, "Keep game files inside this environment". Off by default, so switch it on for the environments you want clean. Tell me if a game behaves oddly with it on. |
Uh oh!

I would like to suggest a feature where games can use a "Documents" folder located inside the bottle itself for their save files, rather than sharing the macOS Documents folder.
For example, games like Dark Souls save their data in paths like "Documents/FromSoftware" or "Documents/NBGI". Currently, these end up cluttering the main macOS Documents folder.
It would be great to have the option to isolate these saves inside the bottle's directory. This could be implemented as a toggle in the settings, or by allowing users to easily access the Wine/Winetricks configuration to manage it themselves.
