Astronomical Foundations

Basis

The Light Calendar is defined strictly through these solar events:

  • Winter Solstice
  • March Equinox
  • Summer Solstice
  • September Equinox

Year Start

The midpoint between:

  • solstice (min light)
  • and equinox (equal light)

This produces four equal-length light quarters.

Light Dynamics

Light change per day (dL/dt) explains the seasons:

  • rapid increase → Waxing Light
  • high plateau → Peak Light
  • rapid decrease → Fading Light
  • low plateau → Darkness

Lunar Basis

Astronomical new moon & full moon from precise ephemerides.

Purpose

A clean, mathematically consistent calendar grounded in real celestial mechanics.
