Difference between Force DHW and Regular DHW?

What is the difference between these two modes?

Force DHW should be the equivalent to the option in Melcloud and in the heatpumps own display I suppose.

regular is the mode that gets triggered when you drop below your max drop. Most users have eco mode for that. Force dhw is the same as the button on the display.

Another thing, it seems that "removing device_class" for the fan speed" resulted in fan speed sensor always showing unknown?

Seems to work fine here? double check if other sensors are available. Did the unit reboot?

I did power cycle the heat pump and restarted HA. Yes, other sensors seems to be working as before.

Edit: Checked on the ESP web server as well now, it says NA.

Do you compile yourself, you could try and add the class again. But it strange that it works here and others. Is the number of compressor starts showing ?

I do compile it myself yes, mainly cause I wanted to set a password to the web server.

Actually, compressor start is also NA.

Did you include service code yaml ? It seems that you disabled request code, check if the switch is on.

btw, don't expose the webserver to the internet. Adding password is fine, for local, but not the internet.

I did include it but apparently, the Service Code setting had been turned off. I am pretty sure I haven't touched it. But turning it on now, the sensors now seem to work again! :)

Ah yes, that was introduced with the change to allow save the svc switch setting. should be corrected now (default on, since it's a 'new' setting)

It seems the Regular DHW is not working for me. When I toggle it, it changes the DHW setpoint for lile 3-5 minutes and then it turns off. The pump nerver enters dhw mode.

Look at #297 (comment) to see how it should work. Also, supply logging when toggle (and + 5m after the toggle). There's not a lot I can derive from this report

It was blocked via timer, I only allow the pump på heat water during daytime. But maybe I should switch it to nightime during summer. If its above 20c outside and set temp is 52c, the compressor "overheats" causing it to shut down early and using booster instead. I have also experimented a little bit with lowering the setpoint to 49c if its above 20c outside to avoid the booster. It kinda works but if the outside temp goes above 23c, then booster is also used, like right now.

I wonder if something smarter could be done about this.

please consult the databook for your unit. not all unit are able to do 60c on compressor. It depends on refrigerant and ambient temp. choose the correct value for your unit.

but I could do 56c on the compressor during the heat wave (> 30c), so if the data book states that it should work, consult your installer. There might be something wrong with your unit.

Booster can be turned of for DHW in the MRC. Then it's still available for legionella...

I just did a new test with booster blocked, and it indeed seem able to get the temp up to 52c without booster. (as expected I would say)

Hmm weird that your condensing temp is always around 75c. I did ask around, and it appears to be the case that R32 uses booster fallback. But I don't know the exact reason. Did your installer provided an explanation for it ?

Here also small 2min. boost at the end of the DHW run (Red block), even though not allowed in the settings.

I have the same unit as you, and here during legionella yesterday, booster did not kick in, only after 56c, but that's intended.

Strange thing is that it doesn't happen everytime the discharge temp is above 70°C, so I guess the trigger is a combination of some measured values. I noticed that the compressor already starts reducing rps ~10min. prior booster heater turning on. Unfortunately condensing temp. isn't reported in my system.

The thing is that it kicks in for a few minutes, even though I have the booster heater disabled in all settings, i.e. not for space heating and not for DHW, So it seems to be some kind of system setting overriding the user preferences. I don't use the legionella run, so don't know about that.

Yeah, would be interesting to know why. It happend today for me again, booster used for a few minutes for the last few degees. The feed temp hits 65c and then the booster kicks in. I have quite a low pump flow, only 11L/minute. Maybe it could affect it?

why is your flow rate so slow for dhw? should be 21 or higher for your unit? Lower flowrate requires higher delta T. Did you set your dhw pump speed to 5?

Dunno why its so slow. Yes its at Speed 5. Its not a particular long pipe run, maybe 3 meters to between the indoor and outdoor unit. I think the manual specifies min and max flow rate, can check tomorrow if I remember.
