GeNN 5.4.0

Release Notes for GeNN 5.4.0

This release adds a number of significant new features to GeNN as well as including a number of bug fixes that have been identified since the 5.3.0 release.

User Side Changes

• Added full support for AMD GPUs using HIP (#718)
• Significantly modernised PyGeNN build system (#720)
• Added support for newer compute capabilities to CUDA backend (#722)
• Improvements to documentation (#729)
• Improvements to feature test coverage (#726, #728, #732)

Bug fixes

• Fixed several compatibility issues with CUDA 13 (#724, #719)
