Conversation ID API - Summary of technical findings

What It Does:

Provides a way to track AI conversations across multiple API calls and spans, useful for linking related AI interactions together.

New Public APIs needed

1. Set conversation ID:

Sentry.setConversationId('thread_abc123');  // Set
Sentry.setConversationId(null);             // Unset

2. Get conversation ID:

const id = Sentry.getConversationId();  // Returns string | undefined

1. Storage: Conversation ID is stored in the isolation scope (persists across async operations)
2. Automatic Injection: When spans are created, the conversation ID is automatically added as the gen_ai.conversation.id attribute
3. Span Support: Works with both:

- SentrySpan (Sentry's internal spans)
- OpenTelemetry spans (external library spans)
