FreshThread 0.2.6-beta.3 — seven-day Windows beta

The public beta runs from September 24, 2026 at 11:00 to October 1, 2026 at 11:00 Budapest time. The deadline is shared by all installations. No account is required, and updates do not extend it.

Download FreshThread_0.2.6-beta.3_x64-setup.exe below and install it in the Windows account where you use Codex. The source code remains private.

💡 Codex was open during installation? Fully exit through
File → Quit ChatGPT, restart Codex, then enable the FreshThread hooks in
Settings → Hooks. Closing only the window may leave Codex running.

This installer has no Windows publisher (Authenticode) signature, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning. Do not disable Windows protection. FreshThread's automatic updater checks a separate signature before installing later versions. The SHA256SUMS.txt asset lets you check download integrity. The GitHub release attestation verifies that this installer belongs to the release.

VirusTotal: view this installer's scan (1/69 at publication; Trapmine: Suspicious.low.ml.score). The single heuristic flag may be related to this new, unsigned installer.

To report a problem privately, use FreshThread tray → Report a bug, review the preview, then select Send report. No report is uploaded before you choose to send. GitHub issues are public; remove private information before posting there.

The beta works offline. After expiry, task measurements and new handoffs stop, while local data, reporting and updates remain available. A Codex restart may be needed after an update to activate a changed integration process.
