The process can't access the file because it is being used by another process

Trying to give gitbutler a go, but it is really not making it easy for me... I would put it as a ticket, but I am not sure how to reproduce it yet.

I am on Windows11, using the latest butler 0.21.0

but setup produces an error :

The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (os error 32)

And it is not just the error. My dot files, like .gitignore and .editorconfig get deleted in the process. Luckily, the butler only deletes them in the working dir, so it is easy to restore them.

In GUI, the project appeared somehow, but trying to change the target branch gives the same error.

Thanks so much for sharing - I'm sorry for the hassle!

This is not new as a problem class on Windows, but it wasn't heard of in a while. What's also new is that it leaves files deleted.

Maybe we can find out where that happens by taking a look at the https://docs.gitbutler.com/development/debugging#logs?
You can also run but -ttt to see much more.
