This is bordering on nefarious. It's completely inappropriate. I want to be in charge of the context of my agents, thank you. While on the topic, the default skill needs a diet. The skill and reference totals ~17,000 tokens, just the skill is 4,700. I like gitbutler, but this is insane. Any agent can replicate 90% of but behaviour in base git without any context pollution. Realistically, I can't afford gitbutler at such a high context cost. |

Hi! As of the latest release (0.22.1) this message has been toned down to a recommendation. The reason why this is in place is - without the skill in place agents get confused very easily in how to operate the CLI. https://vcbench.dev/ is one of the benchmarks I made to measure that (the Kilobytes value is a proxy for token usage). In general the intent of the skill is to only provide the agents with competence for how to operate the CLI (therefore its super important that it's not out of date) without injecting workflow opinions. if there is sufficient demand, we can add a config to prevent the app from interfering when there is a custom skill in place - though this likely cant be a default, mainly because the CLI commands and APIs are still changing a lot, and an out-of-date skill is actually quite harmful performance wise |

I have my own gitbuttler skill that describes my preferred workflow.
