Copilot forgets the current conversation #3225

Description

Describe the bug

When I'm receiving instructions for using GitHub from its copilot, I must close the chat window in order to try the instructions. Since copilot almost always fails to give correct instructions about GitHub, I must resume the conversation by clicking the Copilot button. But then Copilot forgets all previous conversations and starts fresh. I can't find the Copilot version.

Affected version

No response

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Open a repository with code files.
  2. Open Copilot. Ask for instructions to upload a file to your repository.
  3. Close copilot dialog using the X icon.
  4. Click the Code or '+' icon as a simulated GitHub operation.
  5. Return to copilot using the ugly face icon.
  6. Ask copilot if it remembers your conversation about instructions.
  7. Sometimes it does remember and apologizes for forgetting. Other times it can't remember any previous conversation.

Expected behavior

I expect it to act like standalone Claude and retain the current conversation context across being completely closed and opened again.

Additional context

Dell Latitude, Windows 11 Pro, Edge browser, GitHub repo 'https://github.com/David263/itma-loop-memorizer'.

Note: part of the problem maybe Copilot's failure to adapt its output to the user's experience level. I am a beginner with GitHub.
