Proposed solution
I'd love to see Claude Opus 4.6 available as a model option in GitHub Copilot CLI via the /model command.
Currently, only Sonnet-tier Claude models are offered. For complex, multi-file engineering tasks — architecture planning, deep code review, intricate refactoring — Opus delivers significantly better
reasoning and output quality.
Suggested addition to the model picker:
- claude-opus-4.6 — for high-complexity, long-context tasks
Even if it costs more premium requests per prompt, having the choice to use Opus when the task demands it would greatly improve the CLI's value for professional/enterprise users.
Thank you for building this tool — it's already excellent. Opus support would make it exceptional.
