Storify Daily Entry (2026-10-17)
From 2026-10-16 07:55 to 2026-10-17 07:55 UTC, the clearest story was a handoff getting farther through the ESLint factory. A queue prompt repair and a later Claim authorization repair preceded successful dispatcher and worker jobs. Miner then opened PR #69608. That is visible delivery progress, though the authorization PR explicitly says end-to-end Result proof remains fail-closed.
A second thread moved from an unavailable model pin to experimental routing, while a human-triggered smoke run on a separate firewall upgrade exposed setup failures. These are different boundaries. The sampled run audits and PR activity support the transitions below; they do not establish a common root cause across the day's failures.
Episode Highlights
The ESLint factory delivered a candidate. PR #69377 repaired missing queue assignments in worker prompts; PR #69505 repaired signed-push and adapter Claim authorization. After both merges, the dispatcher §38998534389, Miner §38998835439, Refiner §38998849789, and Monster §38998865310 show successful job conclusions. Miner’s new PR links back to its run. Outcome: improving delivery; commit/tree Result verification remains unproven. Confidence: high on job outcomes, moderate on how much each repair contributed.
A model failure turned into a reviewed workflow edit. Duplicate Code Detector §38971927311 failed at
agent / Execute Pi CLI. PR #69499 cites that run’s unavailable fixed model and replaces the pin with cost-oriented model routing. PR Code Quality Reviewer §38976953820 completed, and the human-authored repair merged. Outcome: prospective improvement; the window contains no confirmed post-merge routed inference. Confidence: high on the failure-to-merge chain.A manual smoke command exposed a setup boundary. A human commented
/smoke-copiloton PR #69526, which led to §38992703035. Its agent and detection jobs failed atDownload container images; the agent also failedVerify agent session artifact. The safe-output job was skipped. Outcome: stalled before a useful agent result; root cause is unknown. Confidence: high on the trigger and failed steps, low on cause.Feedback Loops Across Workflows
The publication-boundary repair loop is improving: queue assignment and Claim fixes were followed by successful ESLint worker runs and a new PR. The next check is whether the Result verifier accepts a pinned commit and tree.
The review-and-revision loop improved prospectively: the model failure produced a routed workflow change, and PR review completed before merge. A scheduled routed run is still needed to show runtime recovery. The failure-to-investigation closure loop remains open for the firewall-upgrade smoke: the manual check found a setup failure, with no recovery shown in this window.
Human Interventions That Mattered
A human merged the queue prompt and Claim authorization repairs, then merged the model routing change. Another human action, the
/smoke-copilotcomment on PR #69526, converted a proposed firewall upgrade into an observable failure at setup. PR #69474 also tightened reviewer publication recovery; a later reviewer run succeeded, though that single run does not prove the repair across all review paths.Signals to Watch Next
Watch the next scheduled Duplicate Code Detector run, the ESLint Result verifier’s pinned commit/tree proof, and a follow-up smoke on PR #69526. The selected failure clusters overlap; their membership identifies symptoms, not root causes. Metadata collection reached the requested start, while detailed interpretation rests on the inspected run subset.
Audit trail
Inspected run audits: §38963020563 (formal checks passed; analysis handoff upload failed), §38971927311, §38948922865 (reviewer CLI and log-redaction steps failed; no shared cause inferred), §38976953820, §38992703035, §38998835439, and §38998849789. The smoke run appears in overlapping failure-boundary clusters
failure-1a7adc0b96bd3e83andfailure-eeea25da0d93ad6b; it is one affected run, not two.References: §38998835439 · §38971927311 · §38992703035
