Summary
Currently, GLPI provides two ways of managing list views:
A global view shared across users.
A personal view specific to each user.
While this covers basic customization needs, it becomes limiting when users need to switch regularly between different display configurations. The Computers module already offers a bookmark mechanism that allows users to save and quickly access multiple search views. Extending this concept to all object lists would significantly improve usability and consistency across GLPI.
Proposed Enhancement
Introduce a bookmark-based view management system for all GLPI object types (Tickets, Computers, Printers, Users, Assets, etc.).
View Types
For each object type, users should have access to:
Global Default View
Managed by administrators or authorized users.
Defines the default columns, filters, sorting and display settings for all users.
Personal Default View
Available to every user.
Overrides the global view for individual preferences.
View Bookmarks
Users should be able to create and manage multiple saved views containing:
Visible columns
Column order
Filters
Sorting rules
Pagination settings (if applicable)
Save Options
Add the following actions:
Save as Personal View
Update Personal View
Save as Global View (with appropriate permissions)
Update Global View (with appropriate permissions)
Quick View Selection
Provide a bookmark selector allowing users to switch between saved views easily.
Example:
Current View:
[ Global View ▼ ]
Global View
My N1 Support View
My N2 Support View
Asset Management View
Full Inventory View
Users should also be able to:
Set any personal bookmark as their default view.
Restore the global default view at any time.
Example Use Cases
Support Technicians
Open Incidents
Waiting for User Response
High Priority Tickets
Asset Managers
Hardware Inventory
Out-of-Warranty Devices
Non-Compliant Assets
Administrators
Organization-wide standard views
Easy deployment of new default views without requiring individual user configuration
Expected Result
Implement throughout GLPI the same bookmark-based view management capabilities already available in the Computers module, while distinguishing between global views and personal views, enforcing permissions, and providing quick switching between saved view configurations.
