Currently https://github.com/hypnoglow/asdf-golangci-lint exist to support golangci lint trough asdf.

I think it would be nice if it was officially supported as part of the golangci organization.

Provide an asdf golangci lint plugin.

Hello,

I'm not sure to understand why do you think we should handle this particular packaging.

We don't manage directly all the packaging systems: we globally only support the packaging that goreleaser can handle.

As mentioned by caarlos0, I think it would only require a setup once.

Providing an official repository plugin in the golangci organization would make sense instead of relying on a user managed repository.

What do you think ? I think that the asdf provider has a lot of value in the community, or at least I can see one.

This goes with the feature request for a version file in the action repository: golangci/golangci-lint-action#1319

I think it peovides a good value having a single entrypoint for you binary versions.

Just like users are trying to do with go tool, but as pointed put is not a good solution.

The community has already created an asdf plugin, and it seems to work, so we don't need to create an official one, at least for now.

I don't want to bypass someone's 6 years of work.

As I already said we don't manage directly all the packaging systems.

There is no reason to treat asdf differently than other packaging systems.
