I'm also running into this. New google ai ultra personal account. Can't seem to login to antigravity or gemini cli (just installed latest gemini cli fresh today). Trying to jump into the gemini world today and give things a spin, but hitting a roadblock out of the gates here.

Seeing this exact error message after trying to login to gemini via google login, it says waiting for auth for a while, then displays this error:

This is getting silly, Google launched Gemini 3.0 Pro a week before Anthropic Opus 4.5, yet getting access to it via the Gemini CLI is needlessly complex while I've had 2 full days on Opus 4.5 by now.

Yes, I used AntiGravity - but the free access is so nerfed... I'm getting way more out of Opus 4.5 directly in Claude Code CLI right now (just /extra-usage - top up wallet.. and I get to easily switch between sonnet 4.5 and Opus 4.5 on my pro subscription - right in my CLI on day 1). It's like Google doesn't even want my money (and yah, Opus 4.5 API access is expensive, but at least I can toggle as and when I want while using my Pro monthly subscription for Sonnet 4.5).

(I'm using Gemini CLI with GCP Code Assist access, this is my personal GCP account just for me to keep the billing simple... yes I filled out the waiting list, but my first impression of Gemini 3.0 Pro has already been so bad)

And by running the git main release, there is usage remaining now !!!

(the 77.6% remaining is NOT due to the 1 request in this session: the usage data doesn't appear until there is a request, so I asked gemini to have a deep think about my AGENTS.md to see the hit from what I call a medium sized refactoring)

@thedude898, I had this same problem. But I had to wait for a week. Yesterday, I was no longer told to need to switch to Gemini 2.5 Pro, and I could continue to use Gemini 3.0. I tested it and saw the model stats. So I could use it now after a week.

Based on the official announcement, Gemini Code Assist Enterprise customers were listed under “Coming Soon” for Gemini 3 access.

However, it has now been over three weeks, and the situation has become quite unusual:

Many individual, non-enterprise users who simply joined the public waitlist have already been approved and gained access.

Meanwhile, those of us who are paying for Code Assist Enterprise licenses—the exact group that was said to receive access “soon”—still do not have Gemini 3 enabled.

This creates a strange experience where enterprise-grade, paid subscribers are behind ordinary personal accounts in access priority.

For a product positioned as enterprise, this rollout order feels inconsistent with expectations.
It would be helpful if the team could clarify:

The actual priority order for Gemini 3 access

Whether Code Assist Enterprise is still planned to receive access soon

If there are additional steps enterprise customers should complete

A clearer communication would greatly improve the experience for paying enterprise users.

Hi,
I'm experiencing an issue similar to what's described here.
On December 17th, I received an email confirming that my account (which previously received
access for Gemini 3 Pro) now also has access to Gemini 3 Flash for use in the Gemini CLI. The
email instructed me to update the CLI to version 0.21.1+ and enable 'Preview Features'.

I have confirmed the following:

1. My Gemini CLI version is @google/gemini-cli@0.21.3 (latest).
2. previewFeatures is set to true in my settings.json.
3. I have restarted the CLI.

However, when I use the /model command, I still see "Gemini 3 is coming soon." and only
options for Gemini 2.5 models (Pro, Flash, Flash-Lite) and "Auto (Gemini 2.5)". I do not see a
explicit options for Gemini 3 Pro or Gemini 3 Flash.

It seems there's a disconnect between the access granted to my account and what the CLI
displays. All my local configurations are correct according to the email's instructions.

I have a Google One Ultra plan. I subscribed to this specific plan precisely because it gave me the option to access Gemini 3 Pro directly through the Gemini-CLI. However, since 1:00 PM today, I no longer have access to 3 Pro.

I perform the authentication using 'Login with Google' and see a window informing me that the authentication was successful. In that same window, it says: 'Authentication complete, and the following products now have authorization to access your account:' I see 'Gemini-CLI' on the list, but it shows my plan as 'Gemini Code Assist Standard,' and I can only access the 2.5-pro, 2.5-flash, and 2.5-lite models.

It leaves me with the feeling that a massive company like Google has to resort to misleading its customers to stay on top. I feel cheated. It makes me wonder: what exactly am I still paying for Google Ultra for?

First of all, on the latest version as of today Preview features does not exist under settings. Then, under model I can only see gemini-3-pro-preview. Is this 3.0? Is this 3.1? How am I supposed to know, and the model itself when asked is not able to answer the question either even after spawning subagents for some reason and thinking multiple minutes. And why is stuff like plan mode DISABLED by default? You are losing to OpenAI and Anthropic because everything built around your model is unusable. It's as if you don't use your own software.

I was really disappointed with Gemini-CLI. Even though I pay for an Ultra account, I couldn't access 3.1 for two days. The result? I spent a whole day testing Claude Code, and I’m beyond satisfied! The CLI is much lighter than Gemini's, and the collaboration is just as good, if not better. I’ve already canceled my Ultra account and I'm upgrading to Claude Max Pro 20x. I’m happy again—and paying less! Thanks, Google, for showing me there are better options out there.

Even Antigravity performs better with Claude models compared to official Gemini models. You should check it out, it works well with Ultra plan.

I have code assist standard and rarely see any model other than 2.5.

Sometimes 3 shows up randomly only to disappear again.

in my case, turned out the session got expired or something. it was weird ux - i opened gemini, like i said above, i could see my current plan and it all looked like i was logged in and ready to go. the model selector only showed old models. finally, i tried sending 'hi' and saw an error saying that i actually need to login again. so i did that, tried again, got told i need to pass verification, did that, and finally got the current models.

I am only really testing but this repo/app is a bit of a gong show so probably wont make it beyond testing.

Gemini 3 shows up for me consistently, but 3.1 doesn't at all when I log in with my Google account (Gemini Pro). 3.1 shows up when I log in with a Gemini API key, but while it seems to work initially, most requests will ultimately fail, so it cannot be used successfully.
