Hi Gemini CLI community! 👋

I'm Tanush Chawla, a B.Tech student in Computer Science (AI & ML) at VIT Bhopal University, India (CGPA: 8.59). I came across Gemini CLI on the GSoC 2026 organizations page and I'm really excited to contribute!

The idea of an agentic, terminal-native AI assistant built around MCP and A2A protocols is something I find genuinely exciting — it sits right at the intersection of GenAI and developer tooling, which is exactly what I want to work on.

I've already gone through the CONTRIBUTING.md and I'm exploring the codebase to find a good first issue to work on before submitting my proposal.

I'd love guidance on:

1. Are there any pre-tasks or evaluation criteria for GSoC 2026 applicants?
2. Which areas of the codebase are priorities this cycle?
3. Any good first issues recommended for new contributors?
