Mouseout event does not trigger in pie chart if draw is called in mouseover event in Chrome & IE

What steps will reproduce the problem? Please provide a link to a
demonstration page if at all possible, or attach code.
1. Create a pie chart
2. attach a mouseover & mouseout event to the pie chart.
3. Redraw the piechart in the mouseover event.


What component is this issue related to?
PieChart


Are you using the test environment (version 1.1)?
No


What operating system and browser are you using?
Windows 7. Browser both Chrome & IE 8.  Works fine in firefox 3.6

This is probably related to timing issues. The mouse over event is fired many times
while the mouse is over a pie 
slice and specifically just before it leaves. Therefore the visualization is once again
drawn (which is an 
asynchronous function) and it causes the mouseout event to be missed.

Try not re-drawing the chart so often if you want to handle these events properly (what
is the purpose of 
redrawing it so many times on each mouse over event?)

Hi  Metula,

Thanks for responding.  The main purpose is to have user's action of hovering over

the pie, trigger the color change of the slice that is "selected" by hovering.  
Furthermore, change the color to the original color on mouse out.  

It is very interesting to know that the event gets fired many times while the mouse

is over a pie slice. I can certainly fix the "blinking" problem (on certain browsers

this causes the pie to blink as it probably redraws over and over) I have been having

with this information.  

Thanks again for posting.  However, I would really to implore you to change your mind

about labeling this ticket as "WontFix".  Usually, you don't expect the hover event

to be fired over & over again at it can lead to a lot of performance issues if there

is a costly action involved with mouseover event handler.

Hi,

Just in case someone is interested, I was able to solve this issue by keeping track

of last hover point.  So, basically, I am now keeping track whether a onhouseover 
event is already triggered for a slice. If it is I simply ignore it and the mouseout

fires.  

For anyone interested, please see attached working code.  However, there is still an

issue if user quickly mouses over and mouses out.  In that case, mouse out still does

not fire.

Metula, it would be great if API did this internally and not fire the event for the

same slice over and over.
