That error is from the j2objc script, which just checks for recognizable version strings. I don't know what AdoptOpenJdk's version string looks like, but just run java -version, then edit the j2objc script's fgrep pattern to match it (maybe its version string doesn't have build in it).

We don't support AdoptOpenJdk, but since we accept contributions, I encourage you to update scripts/j2objc.sh (as well as anything other JDK differences) and send a pull request.

J2ObjC is an advanced software engineering tool, and it assumes its users are comfortable using command lines inside of a shell like bash. It also is focused on large apps which are largely platform-independent Java (as in, no Android API). Anyone who is new to application development and/or has a small app may find using it frustrating and counter-productive. For those developers, it will ultimately be easier and faster to learn how to natively create the app independently for Android and iOS.

I had the problem if path to JDK contains space symbol. I've copied to another folder and set to JAVA_HOME in project. But it would be better to fix this issue in j2objc
