Calibright config error on i3status-rust 0.30.7 (commit cb994547)

Hi, I've recently built the latest version from git i3status-rs 0.30.7 (commit cb99454 2023-04-15) and my backlight block shows calibright config error

Backlight block configuration:

Is anyone else able to reproduce this issue ?

Can you right click on the error to see if any further information is provided by the error?

It seems to say something like so

Error in backlight: calibright config error. (Cause: Failed to deserialize TOML file config at line 6: Invalid table header expected ` <might_be_caracter_here_missing>`,`]`)`

Running in the terminal with the same config, it seems the block works tho :

Can you share the output of?:

Sorry for the delay,
ls: /home/username/.config/calibright: No such file or directory (os error 2). this does not exist.
$XDG_CONFIG_HOME is not defined.

How are you staring i3/sway (do you start from a shell or use a display manager like gdm or ly) and how is i3/sway staring i3status-rs?

For example in ~/.config/sway/config :

I have tried unsetting $XDG_CONFIG_HOME and also have no calibright config:

ls: cannot access '/home/bmalyn/.config/calibright': No such file or directory

I do start it like so, I don't have any display manager, I manually login in the TTY and from the shell I write startx.

In my ~/.xinitrc or /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc file I have an exec i3 line that starts i3.

Mind, I have 2 bars as well, but not sure if that's needed to reproduce the issue :

I can provide you with my env XDG variable that are defined if it could help.

Could you try building/running https://github.com/bim9262/i3status-rust/tree/1870. It's a patched version that will display the name of the file that it is trying to parse, just before it fails on your machine.

In your i3 config you can put something like:

    status_command RUST_LOG=config=debug /path/to/patched/i3status-rs 2> /tmp/l
}

and run tail -f /tmp/l before restarting your status bars.

So I built the version by using git checkout remotes/origin/1870 after git cloning your repo.
I ran cargo build inside the root folder of the repo.
And tweaked my configuration as you've told me (I've used path/to/repo/target/debug/i3status-rs as the binary inside my configuration).
Here is what I see why restarting i3 multiples times inside the file /tmp/l

You must have a file in your cwd (current working directory) that's called config. The code that finds the config came from i3status-rust, and there was a patch to make sure that the file was always absolute, but that wasn't copied over to calibiright. I'm going to add another debug statement in (temporarily) for you to test with that will print the cwd to help you trace down where it got tripped up.
