Core Concepts

The GROK Token

Address: 0x8390a1DA07e376ef7aDd4Be859BA74Fb83aA02D5 (Ethereum Mainnet)

  • Origin: Community meme token (2023)
  • Renounced: Contract sent to 0x000...dEaD (2024)
  • Purpose: Universal energy for cultural preservation
  • Initial Supply: 6,900,000,000 GROK (decreasing through burns)
  • Decimals: 9
  • Philosophy: From Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land" (1961)

The Burn Mechanism

Total GROK Burned = File Size (KB) × Burn Rate (GROK/KB)

Burn Rate Range: 1 - 1,000 GROK/KB (creator's choice)
Destination: 0x000...dEaD (permanent destruction)
Extraction: 0% (nothing goes to treasury or team)

The Self-Sealing Mechanism

MAX_CAPACITY = Implementation-defined (e.g., 6.9 GB for Genesis)

When capacity reached:
→ Minting permanently disabled
→ Existing NFTs remain accessible forever
→ Zero ongoing costs
→ True digital immortality

Each capsule sets its own capacity. Genesis: 6.9 GB. Your capsule: you decide.

The Rarity System

Rarity determined by total GROK burned, not by rate:

Additional factors: Token ID specials (#1, #42, #69, #420, #666, #1337), mint position, file size, capacity milestones.

The Philosophy

From Robert A. Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land (1961):

"Grok means to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes a part of the observed—to merge, blend, intermarry, lose identity in group experience."

GROKME realizes this concept:

  • To preserve culture, you must grok it (understand completely)
  • Understanding requires burning GROK (economic sacrifice)
  • The act of burning proves you've grokked the value
