The tabbed window is flickering and can't be used when the tabs "Assembly" and "Symbols" are open

Recently I noticed that in PCSX-Redux the user can take multiple different windows and turn them into multiple different tabs in one window.

I have taken both the "Assembly" and the "Symbols" windows and made a one window with two tabs: "Assembly" and "Symbols" but now the window that contains these two tabs always flickers and I can't use it at all.

I also can't undo this action and I must reboot PCSX-Redux.

I still can use both "Assembly" and "Symbols" as two separated windows instead of tabs in one window but I like to be a user of one window which has a lot of open tabs.

This is much more convenient for me to work this way.

Why I have this problem when both "Assembly" and "Symbols" are two different tabs of one window? Is this a bug that has to be fixed in a future build and release of PCSX-Redux?

I'd need to see what you're talking about exactly, possibly with a video taken with OBS, but this feels like a bug either with ImGui or with GLFW or both, not with Redux itself directly.

Do you have multiple monitors? Windows, Linux, or MacOS? Do you have a high DPI display?

When I show both the "Assembly" and the "Breakpoints" windows I see both of them on my screen separately:

PCSX-Redux allows me turn them into two tabs in one window. When I do this, this is what I see on my screen:

I tried to do the same with both "Assembly" but "Symbols" instead of "Breakpoints" windows and now the window with the "Assembly" and "Symbols" tabs flickers and I can't even move it. I must reboot PCSX-Redux to escape this bad situation.

I am installing OBS that you recommend me to use and I will upload a video that shows this issue because when I PrintScreen the image in my clipboard only shows the "Assembly" tab but not the "Symbols" tab at all.

I am a Windows 64 bit user and I have a single monitor only and how do I know if my display is high DPI?

I chose to capture a window but PCSX-Redux doesn't appear in the drop down list. In fact only three windows appear in the drop down list, but I have a lot of windows in the task bar much more than three.

What I do wrong with OBS?

This is pretty annoying that I have one problem with one software and when I want to report this problem and need to use another software explain this report I have another problem with this software too!

I think that I must choose to capture the entire display instead and hope that I won't have a problem to do that too.

Now I get it! Only windows that are NOT minimized appear in the drop down list! If that so then I will maximize PCSX-Redux, capture it and upload it here.

I have made a recording of PCSX-Redux client window with the issue and OBS created a mkv file but this mkv file only shows the top left quarter of PCSX-Redux client window.

OBS didn't record the entire client of PCSX-Redux window.

Why?

I have found the answer to my last question and the answer is that both

Base (Canvas) Resolution

and

Output (Scaled) Resolution

in the Video settings were both set to 1920x1080.

I changed both to 3840x2160 and now OBS records the entire client of PCSX-Redux window.

I will remake the mkv file and upload it here.

OBS created a mkv file but GitHub doesn't allow me to upload mkv files. How to configure OBS to create a video file but with different format and file extension like MP4 for example? I can always try a free mkv to mp4 converter as a last resort.

Either OBS is not good or I am not using it properly.

I have successfully configured OBS to create MP4 instead of MKV but the output MP4 is bad and does not show the issue properly. So bad that I don't want even to upload it.

Maybe I changed too many settings and created a bad configuration and unfortunately I don't see any "Reset all settings to their defaults" button in the OBS GUI.

I have asked the developers of OBS about the missing "Reset all settings to their defaults" button here but it doesn't look and sound like that they are interested and going to do anything about this.

Just do what I did and see the issue by yourself.

The two images that I uploaded above already imply what to do but don't forget to use the "Symbols" window instead of the "Breakpoints" window.

To reproduce the issue:

1. Show both "Assembly" and "Symbols" windows. Show the "Assembly" window in the Debug menu and the "Symbols" window by clicking on the "Symbols" button in the "Assembly" window.
2. Either drag the "Symbols" window into the "Assembly" window or drag the "Assembly" window into the "Symbols" window.
3. A one window with "Assembly" and "Symbols" tabs appear but it flickers and can not be dragged and moved.

WTF! It appears that to reset all OBS settings to their defaults I had to show settings folder, close OBS, empty OBS settings folder and then relaunch OBS!

With the default settings I managed to make a MP4 video that shows properly what happens when either the "Symbols" window is dragged into the "Assembly" window or the "Assembly" window is dragged into the "Symbols" window to create a window with two tabs: "Assembly" tab and "Symbols" tab, but this window always flickers and it can't be dragged nor moved.

There are only three very simple steps to reproduce the issue:

1. In the Debug menu show the Assembly window.
2. In the Assembly window click on the Symbols button to show the Symbols window.
3. Either Drag the Symbols window into the Assembly window or drag the Assembly window into the Symbols window.

Are you working on this issue at all?

I see that you at least tried to solve this problem but unfortunately this attempt or trial both resulted and ended in a failure.

Now this is even worse than before:

The symbols window does not appear at all and can't be used at all though it still appears in the taskbar. I will open a new issue about the new problem and describe it.

But still I appreciate all your efforts! Keep trying! Never give up! I still believe in you! You will succeed eventually! Problem solving was never an easy task! I know this from my experience in my life!

Fortunately I don't need this symbols window in the present time. I just hope that when I will need it in the future this problem will be solved until then.

Alright I have opened the new issue and the new issue can be viewed here

It appears that the new issue was caused by a bad configuration that I made and it was saved to pcsx.json file.

I deleted the pcsx.json file and now I can both show and see the Symbols window when clicking on the Symbols button in the Assembly window, but unfortunately if I drag the Symbols window into the Assembly window to create a window with two tabs: Assembly and Symbols then the flickering issue persists.

I have solved it.
