Why is icecream not improving?

When I look at all the open issues, I see that there are many demands for improvement. Yet, after three years there is a now new version on PyPI that has hardly any more or improved functionality.

The 'peek' package clearly shows a much more mordern and feature-rich alternative for debugging and benchmarking. Anyone interested should have a look at www.salabim.org/peek .

maintainers get busy, and most OSS projects are volunteer work. so in all likelihood the answer to this issue is that the maintainer has other priorities. but they're looking for help! see in the README:

I think all the community would agree that we appreciate you worrying about the package. However, personally, I would like to ask you a question. Don't you think promoting another package wouldn't help improve ice cream?

The IceCream API is too different from what I consider a modern, Pythonic interface that I decided not to contribute to that package, but develop my own tool: peek.

I agree that the library should be improved in terms of the code. I'll work on that.

However, you decided not to improve it. At the same time, it looks like you would like to grab a bit of attention here. I might be wrong.
