Cleanup of deprecated flexbox articles on the web #124

@paulirish

Description

@paulirish

It's been painful for people who are looking up flexbox to find articles covering the old legacy flexbox. And get foncused.

Nowadays we have a solid amount of documentation for new flexbox as well as strategies for targeting both implementations (and the in-between IE10 "tweener" impl).

So... we can adorn all the older flexbox articles with a big warning/disclaimer that directs people off those page to more updated articles.

I wrote this warning for my old html5rocks flexbox article, but even it's out of date now.

@dstorey and @simevidas and I kicked off a list of these articles:

I think that's mostly it, but if you have more to add, please do.

Next up.. Let's come up with a recommended disclaimer. There are a few articles out there (starting with Bocoup's guide and Chris's article on targeting both) that we want to point people to. And a few tools like Flexbox Please and Flexplorer. This has sorta been summarized on http://html5please.com/#flexbox

What needs to be done

  • Pull together a list of articles covering the old syntax
  • Come up with a small list of resources that covers the fundamentals of the new syntax as well as a tri-implementation guide. So probably two-three articles. Then one or two tools. (I'm hoping choosing this won't be too contentious 👌 ).
  • Write the prose for the disclaimer. Something friendly.
  • Outreach to the publishers and authors to get this bad boy added to the top of their resources.

Sound mostly good? Anyone wanna help?
