• Videos Codex makes now land on the canvas by themselves: when you ask
  Codex to create or edit a video, the result appears on your board and in the
  chat the moment the turn finishes — no more digging the file out of the folder
  and dragging it in yourself.
• Reference a video — or a single frame — in your prompt: select a video and
  hit Reference to bring it into the chat; scrub to a moment first and it
  carries that exact frame and its timestamp, so you can point at "this pose" or
  "this shot" and ask for a change.
• A proper video player on the canvas: drag the progress bar to scrub with a
  live frame preview, and press Space to play or pause the selected video.
• Copy and paste across boards — and many at once: select any mix of images
  and videos, Cmd/Ctrl+C, switch to another board, Cmd/Ctrl+V, and they
  all come over keeping their layout. Pasting a video file copied from elsewhere
  (e.g. Finder) now works too.
• Tidier videos in chat: a video in the conversation is sized like an image
  thumbnail and shows its first frame as a still you click to play, instead of a
  large player that starts on its own.
• Workspaces sorted by recent activity: the sidebar now lists boards by when
  you last worked in them, not just when they were opened.
• Settings & video tools: a community QR code and a developer footer in
  Settings, and the managed ffmpeg download now works out of the box — with a
  clear message when ffmpeg isn't available yet.

Improvements

• Video on the canvas: drop in a video, scrub it, pull out frames, and ask Codex to edit it with ffmpeg — trim a clip, change format or codec, and more — right alongside your images. Just like images, every edit is non-destructive: each result is a new clip with its lineage kept, so your original is never touched. Cameo uses the ffmpeg you already have, or quietly fetches a managed copy when it's missing.
• Faster ways around the canvas: a new Hand tool, hold Space to pan, and a clickable minimap to jump across large boards.
• Codex skills come built in: Cameo now bundles a set of Codex skills and makes them available in each board's workspace automatically — no setup needed before you /-pick one from the input box.
• A cleaner Settings panel: redesigned for a calmer, more consistent layout — the proxy collapses to a single line, and the video-tools and version sections read more clearly.

Fixes

• Steadier connections behind a local proxy: Codex's live model stream is no longer forced through your HTTP proxy, where a long-lived connection could be dropped mid-response and set off a "connection unstable — reconnecting…" loop. The stream now connects directly (your system VPN / TUN routes it when present) and quietly falls back to HTTPS when it can't, so a turn just runs to the end.
• Dismissible network notice: the "network check failed — Codex may need a proxy" banner can now be closed.

• Codex skills, right from the input box: type / to see the skills enabled
  in your current folder and run one inline. Cameo sends it to Codex as a proper
  skill while keeping the slash label visible in your chat history.
• Cameo now works with any Codex CLI sign-in — a ChatGPT subscription, an API
  key, or another Codex-supported provider — not just a subscription login. As
  before, Cameo never receives or stores your API key.
• You can now check for updates on demand from Settings, which also shows the
  version you're running and a link to the full release notes. Updates still
  download automatically in the background; this just lets you trigger and watch
  a check yourself.
• Smaller canvas and composer polish: reference and skill pills are easier to
  edit, and hovering an image on the canvas gives clearer feedback.

• A new Codex setup panel makes getting started clearer: Cameo tells you
  whether the Codex CLI is installed and signed in, and gives one-tap guidance
  (install / codex login) with a re-check button when something's missing.
• You can now choose how Codex generates right from the input box — pick the
  model, the intelligence (reasoning effort: low / medium / high / extra
  high), and the speed (standard or fast), mirroring the official Codex app.
  Your choice is remembered per board.
• Image turns feel faster out of the box: Cameo now sends a balanced reasoning
  setting by default instead of inheriting whatever heavier setting your Codex
  CLI happened to be configured with.
• The network proxy in Settings now covers everything Cameo does — the

• Your chat history is now saved reliably. Replies that finished while you were

Cameo v0.1.0

First Public Release

Cameo is now available as an image-first desktop canvas for your local Codex
agent. It gives Codex a spatial workspace for image generation and editing:
open a folder, point at the images you mean, mark the region you want to change,
and let the results fan out across the board instead of disappearing into a chat
thread.

What You Can Do

• Open any local folder as a board, with images laid out on an infinite canvas.
• Select one or more images, draw region marks, add notes, and send that visual
  context to Codex.
• Keep a continuous Codex conversation per board, so follow-up instructions like
  "warmer", "try three versions", or "now change the background" keep their
  context.
• Preserve originals automatically: every output becomes a new image placed next
  to its source, with visible lineage on the canvas.
• Pan, zoom, drag, resize, rotate, marquee-select, fit the board, and zoom to
  the current selection.
• Compare edits with before/after and side-by-side views.
• Crop, copy, export, reveal files in the system file manager, and keep working
  with normal local image files.
• Use built-in presets for common image operations alongside free-form prompts.
• Browse the prompt gallery from the app or at cameo.ink/gallery for examples
  and starting points.

Desktop App

• Native app for macOS and Windows, built with a GPU-backed canvas for large
  image boards.
• Uses your own logged-in Codex CLI and ChatGPT subscription. Cameo does not
  bundle Codex, sell tokens, or require an API key.
• Includes workspace restore, multiple sessions per board, timeline persistence,
  streaming Codex responses, clarifying questions, settings, proxy support,
  unified logs, tray behavior, and app update support.
• Ships with the completed v1 visual system: light, focused, image-first UI with
  English and Chinese localization.

Notes

This is the first public open-source release of Cameo under AGPL-3.0. The core
loop is in place: open a folder, work on images spatially, talk to Codex with
visual references, and keep every result as a non-destructive local artifact.
