4. Log Management

A daily task for DIRAC administrators is to check than everything is working properly. DIRAC offer different ways to accomplish this task:

  • Log Error Console
  • DIRAC system logs
  • Agent

The log levels can be expressed as:

Log Level Description
DEBUG The DEBUG Level is a fine-grained event used to debug the service or agent
INFO The INFO Level is a coarse-grained event used to show application process
WARN The WARN Level show warns about future possible errors in the service or agent
ERROR The ERROR Level show errors occurred, the services or agents can still run
FATAL The FATAL Level show errors than makes service or agent stop

4.1 Log Error Console

A console is available through DIRAC Web Portal, following the links:

Systems -> Error Console

In the left panel appears the options to select the dates between the errors must be checked, in the right panel the

Component, the error associated and the number of times will appear.

4.2 DIRAC System Logs

The logs from all the services and agents can be checked in:

$DIRAC/startup/<system_name>_<service_name>/log/current

For example, run the following line as user dirac in the server:

tail -f /vo/dirac/pro/startup/WorkloadManagement_TaskQueueDirector/log/current

The logs in real time are going to be showed in your terminal.:

tail -f WorkloadManagement_TaskQueueDirector/log/current

4.3 Agent Notification

This agent is in charge to check the logs and send notifications containing top 10 errors during the week to the administrator.
