What's New

/update command

Clients can now run /update inside Claude Code to pull the latest commands and scripts from the template repo. Your CLAUDE.md and vault content are never touched — only infrastructure files (commands, scripts) are updated.

Cross-platform scripts

All 4 template scripts (write-session.sh, pickup-scan.sh, add-forward-link.sh, write-tickler.sh) now work on Linux, macOS, and Windows (Git Bash):

  • Portable file locking: flock on Linux, mkdir-based on macOS/Windows
  • Portable date arithmetic: GNU date → BSD date → Python 3 fallback
  • Bash version check: pickup-scan.sh requires bash 4.2+ and tells you how to install it on your OS

README updates

  • Quick Start now uses git remote rename origin template instead of rm -rf .git && git init — preserves the update path
  • Added /update to commands table

Upgrading

If you cloned before this release, you may need to add the template remote:

cd /path/to/your/vault
git remote add template https://github.com/harrisonaedwards/claude-code-obsidian-template.git

Then run /update inside Claude Code, or manually:

git fetch template
git checkout template/main -- .claude/commands/ .claude/scripts/
chmod +x .claude/scripts/*.sh
git commit -m "Update CCO commands from template"
