Cascade 2.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@hasansayani hasansayani released this 01 Oct 19:56

What's new

  • Multi-display support: each display gets its own cascade, and windows stay on the display they're on. Minimized windows and windows of hidden apps go back to the display they came from. You can still choose to gather everything onto the display under the pointer (Settings → Displays).
  • About Cascade in the menu bar menu, with the version and links.
  • ⌃⌥1–9 snap keys work on whichever display the focused window is on.

Install

  1. Download Cascade-2.1.0.zip, unzip, and drag Cascade.app into /Applications (replace the old copy).
  2. First launch only: if macOS blocks it, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  3. If asked, turn on Cascade under Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

Universal app (Apple silicon + Intel), macOS 13 Ventura or later.

Cascade 2.0.1

Choose a tag to compare

@hasansayani hasansayani released this 01 Oct 19:17

A macOS menu bar utility that arranges windows in a classic Windows-style cascade, grouped by application.

Install

  1. Download Cascade-2.0.1.zip, unzip, and drag Cascade.app into /Applications.
  2. Open it. The app is not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  3. When asked, turn on Cascade under Privacy & Security → Accessibility.

Universal binary (Apple silicon + Intel), macOS 13 Ventura or later.

What's new in 2.0

  • Window size: fill the group, or a custom width/height percentage
  • Adjustable visible strip (top and left) of the windows underneath
  • Cascade groups for large displays: columns × rows, grouped by application or pinned manually per app
  • Snap windows into a group with ⌃⌥1–9, the menu, or by ⇧-dragging onto a group
  • Cascade each display separately, or everything onto the display under the pointer
  • Settings window with a live layout preview and customizable shortcuts

Fixed in 2.0.1

  • Accessibility permission is now recognized after granting it, and survives rebuilds and updates (previously the app could keep asking).
