Hey Ebrahim, thanks for your interest in the project! As you can imagine, given my background, it's an issue I've already considered. There's a particularly vocal movement around these labels, but I'm not sure if it's a pragmatic one.

The section linked primarily discusses the historical nature of the term, and to a degree this aligns well with my experience, as most modern usage is simply "Farsi". Furthermore, I have yet to meet a fa-Wikipedian who does not call it "Farsi Wikipedia". Given the traffic levels on the site are not quite at that "musical" level, that would be the primary user. Finally, as the section points out "Farsi" aligns better with "fa", which helps with usability.

If you or someone you know can attest to having difficulty using the site, in terms of finding the language, then that's a valid issue. In the meantime, I'm inclined to let these contentious dogs sleep a pragmatic sleep.
