In Tinkercad the ability to do this is possible, although not as elegant as you've described. But the same method is not yet implemented in layerling, which I think would be good to add as a bare minimum: In Tinkercad you create an Extrude Sketch and then duplicate it -- same as in layerling -- but then you can change the dimensions on one side to an equal but negative value, and the shape will flip (or mirror); then it's just a matter of moving the mirrored version until it butts up next to (or even overlaps) the original. It remains two separate objects in Sketch, but it's a single symmetrically-mirrored object upon exiting. Going back to edit allows control over both objects again, although changes to one does not affect the other... so you need to delete one and repeat the pseudo-mirror process again. In layerling the positive-to-negative trick doesn't do anything, neither in Sketch or the main Editor. I agree there should be at least a basic way to perform a mirror function in layerling's Sketch -- and perhaps replicating Tinkercad's negative value method would be a good start. |

I'd like Layerling to add a simple Mirror tool in Sketch Mode.
Users should be able to select lines, circles, holes, points, and other sketch geometry and mirror them across a selected line or construction line. perhaps even work off origin references x, y lines as well
The mirrored objects should be independent copies, retaining their original dimensions and spacing relative to the mirror axis.
No parametric linking or automatic updating is necessary. Just a straightforward, accurate mirror operation.
This would make symmetrical parts, hole patterns, brackets, and mechanical designs much faster and easier to create without adding unnecessary complexity to Layerling.
