BUG: Wrap SVG around cylinder (inward/engraving) produces odd results #578

@makinglayerschannel, thank you for the report file; it let me look at the design itself and rebuild it. Both copies of the logo were wrapped inward onto the cylinder of 100 mm, and the outer skin of the hole lay exactly on the wall of the cylinder. The cylinder is made of 96 flat facets and the wrapped body is cut every 2 degrees, so in places the hole ended a few hundredths of a millimetre under the wall and the cut left a hair-thin skin and tiny loose pieces behind. I rebuilt it with a text: before, the cut left skin over about 4 per cent of the letters' area, now none. The outside of an inward-wrapped body now reaches 0.05 mm beyond the wall, so a hole cuts through; a solid copy therefore stands 0.05 mm proud. I measured this on the exported file, I have not looked at it on screen. You also wrote that the solid copy is not all the way at the front edge: in your file both copies lie at the same place, so I could not see that. Please look at it when the next release is out and, if it is still wrong, send a screenshot and tell me which copy is where. |

You definitely fixed the odd hole portion. Here's a link to a video of my reproduction of the issue. Perhaps I'm just not understanding the expected result. If I'm just misunderstanding the expected result, just let me know. |
Uh oh!

Even when creating a duplicate of the svg and making it a hole, the logo just doesn't cut correctly and the second (solid) copy isn't all the way at the front edge of the cylinder as it should be.
