@Joepic9 thanks for the idea. @mlugo-apx built the Gridfinity shape, so I'm passing this on: would you like to take it on? The open sides look like the useful part to me, a switch per side that takes away that wall and its stacking lip, so open bins side by side make one continuous run. Join features would add little, since the baseplate already holds every bin in the 42 mm grid and pieces of whole units line up by themselves. Until then you can open a side by hand: put a box over the wall, make it a hole and group it with the bin. Or use Split to cut a long bin where you want it. |

The Gridfinity shape is already very useful (bins/baseplates, compartments, label shelves, finger scoops, half-size grid, raised floor, magnet holes, stacking lip).
One practical addition would be the ability to cut/remove one or more sides of a bin (front, back, left, or right) and optionally add simple join features (alignment tabs, small dovetails, or matching interlocking edges).
This would make it easy to:
Print longer or wider bins in pieces that fit a normal bed, then assemble them.
Create open-sided bins that snap or slide together for continuous storage runs.
A simple toggle per side (“Open this side” + optional “Add join features”) would cover most use cases without complicating the generator.
Thanks for the ongoing Gridfinity work—this would make the shape even more practical for larger layouts.
