⚠️ Upgrade Notes

• Upgrading from v2.x? v3.3.1 was the last version with v2.x migration support. If you go directly from v2.x to v4.0, the integration will fail to load and you'll need to remove and re-add it. To avoid this, upgrade to v3.3.1 first, then to v3.5.3, then to v4.0.
• Requires Home Assistant 2025.11+ (needed for the retry_after API quota feature).
• Works from v3.5.3 or any v4.0.0 beta — data migration is automatic.

What's New

• Smart Valve Control (Discussion #231) — If you have an external temperature sensor on a heating zone, you can now let Tado CE automatically adjust the TRV target so the room actually reaches your desired temperature. The TRV's built-in sensor sits on the radiator and reads high, shutting the valve while the room is still cold. Smart Valve Control compensates by writing a proportional offset — through HomeKit when available (zero API cost), with cloud as fallback. It backs off on manual changes and resumes on the next schedule block. Enable per zone in Settings → Tado CE → Configure → zone → External Sensors → Smart Valve Control. See FEATURES_GUIDE.md for details.

• HomeKit savings now tracked as standalone sensors — Reads Saved and Writes Saved are now their own diagnostic sensor entities (disabled by default) instead of just attributes on the HomeKit Connected sensor. HA records their history, so you can add sparkline trends to your dashboard. Enable them in Settings → Devices → Tado CE Hub → "X entities not shown".

Improvements

• Custom polling interval now also keeps weather data fresh — The beta.8 fix for custom polling overriding HomeKit cloud sync only applied to zone data. Weather data could still go stale. Both zone and weather data now refresh at your chosen rate.

• Bridge credentials now have their own settings section (#240) — If you have an Internet Bridge but don't use Weather Compensation, your bridge serial and auth code used to appear under a "Weather Compensation" heading. They now live in their own "Internet Bridge" section.

Bug Fixes

• Climate card now shows "off" when heating is off via schedule or Away mode (Discussion #219) — Previously showed "auto" instead of "off" when the schedule or Away mode turned off heating. Now shows "off" whenever the zone isn't heating, regardless of how it was turned off.

How to Update

HACS → Tado CE → ⋮ → Redownload → tick "Need a different version?" → select v4.0.0-beta.9 → Restart HA
