What's New in CiteBar 1.5.0

  • ✨ Public releases are now signed with Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple
  • ✨ DMG installs now support the standard drag-to-Applications flow without Terminal trust workarounds
  • ✨ Settings now include clearer recovery paths for launch-at-login and notification permissions
  • ✨ Menu bar startup behavior is more robust when macOS or third-party menu managers delay status item creation

This release focuses on distribution trust and first-run reliability, making CiteBar easier for non-technical users to download, install, and keep running.

Technical Improvements

  • Added Developer ID signing and Apple notarization support for local and GitHub Actions releases
  • Added explicit signing validation for the app bundle, main executable, Sparkle framework binary, nested Sparkle helpers, and DMG container
  • Added notarization polling, submission log capture, diagnostics artifacts, and stapled-ticket verification
  • Added Apple Events entitlement and usage description for the optional launch-at-login fallback path
  • Updated distribution documentation, release workflow checks, and website messaging for the notarized DMG release path
