Agreed. This would be a nice feature. Similar to how the water dashboard now has individual sensors. Those work great and I think the architecture could be applied here as well. I know my total gas use, I have the rating for my furnace, I can make an educated guess for when the water heater is running, and that leaves just the oven/range. Would be nice to have per-device readings to track these. |

While I have a single gas meter, I use the fact that my gas boiler is either used for hot water or for heating to create 2 virtual meters. This has been working for more than 4 years without issue, and this provide very useful information about my usage.
It would be even better to have the data available directly into the energy dashboard. For that, as a first step, I would like to add these virtual gas meters as individual downstream gas meter in home assistant. This is however not possible for gas meters, while it is possible for some time for electricity meter and more recently for water meters.
As I understand, this first require an architectural discussion first, that's why I am starting this discussion.
