Energy Utility Meter Resets Costs On Reboot

The problem

the problem is the Energy Ulitity Meter creates a Cost sensor... and it cacluates so i have on a dashboard power used costs etc... so say if you have 5 dollars in energy used.. and you reboot HA it resets all the uliity meter costs sensors to unknown and then starts back at 0 when it should continue from 5 dollars...

so i have 3 meters. Daily. Weekly, Monthly.. and i have for each on-peak, mid-peak,off-peak
and i track how much it costs for all 9 sensors.. so i can make a last week, yesterday and last month costs...
and the costs dont stick outside of the energy dashboard.. as i show a running total on a dashboard i made so its constantly updating the energy in watts showing in a auto enties page all the devices and showing how much they currently using and also the costs... but the costs reset after a reboot.. but should resume outside of the energy dashboard... when you goto the states page.. the sensor is gone.. then goes unknown or starts off at 0 on the current tarrif..

if it can retain Power consumption till the cycle reset.. then it should retain the Costs as well till cycle reset.. and not when you reboot it retains power consumption but throws away the costs

and you can see on the energy page it retains it but anywhere else like on my own dashboard it looses it from the cost sensor that resets

Sorry but I cannot understand the issue.

Please note the utility_meter is supposed to work with an energy sensor, not with a cost sensor.

as you seen in the pics
when it was off peak
the utilty meter weekly,monthy and daily create the cost sensor

and these sensors are all Labeled "Sensor Cost" from the Utility Meter

but after a reboot the Utility Meter deletes the cost sensor and then Utility Meter Recreates the cost sensor once its booted up starting at 0 and not resuming... its not following the Cycle Rest.. the Cost sensor shouldnt reset at reboot.. only reset at the Cycle of the utility meter so daily monthly weekly yearly etc.. the Cost sensor of utility meter should only reset by those settings not when you reboot..

there is alot of people that have the same problem and complained but nothing ever resolved.. i tried to make a work around to solve this deleting sensor bug but wasnt able to get tit to work right

as you can see here the Utility Meter Energy Cost Sensor it doesnt retain the cost
it deletes the value at reboot and sets it to unknown and then re creates the cost from 0

i think the problem is when you designed it.. you set Cost sensor for device_class monetary and not to currency and i guess a device class monetary deletes after a reboot is my guess
as it only Retains Cost only on the Energy Dashboard. but outside of the Energy Dashboard it deletes the info

go figure i cant find the word cost.. i looked in each of your source code you sent link off i cant find where it creates the cost sensor where it sticks the word "cost" on the back of each utility meter tariff sensors as i was seeing if there was a device class monetary.. so i dont know how to fix it or test

I think you are using a custom_component that is creating all that... and this would not be the place to debug such custom_component

so what i do is
Goto Settings/Devices & Services ===> Helpers
I click Create Helper
I choose Utility Meter
i Enter name energy import hydro one weekly
i enter cycle weekly
i enter tarrif on-peak, off-peak, mid-peak
i save
i then add it to the Energy Dashboard.. and set each of the Tarrifs to the proper cents/per kilowatt
then 5 -10 min it then creates when it starts generating the first cents of kilowatt
sensor.energy_import_hydro_one_weekly_off_peak_cost
sensor.energy_import_hydro_one_weekly_on_peak_cost
sensor.energy_import_hydro_one_weekly_mid_peak_cost

so that is the utility meter x tarrif price and setting the cost sensor.. and then that gets saved in the energy dashboard. and gets saved to the sensor.. but when you reboot the utility meter cost gets deleted.. but its saved in the energy dashboard.. i guessing if you didnt create the cost.. then the Energy Dashboard page is appending the cost to do the calculation.. and saves it right away to the database... is my guess.. if you dont do the (utility meter x tarrif) but no i not doing any custom component just the Home assistant Intergration... sorry if i sound confusing i do have disylexia so what sounds fine for me may not sound ok to you..

and since several people have this same issue over the years i figured id ask since i just started using the utility meter recently... i can take a video of what i do if i still sound confusing.. sorry in advance

as for debugging i dont know how to debug it.. my guess was the device class monetary that it probably deletes at reboot.
but my guess is if the utility meter doesnt create cost sensor ontop of the utility meter but the Energy Dashboard creater creates it..

guess i need to ask the Energy Dashboard Creator who ever that is
