Country & Europe

New in v3.10.0 (pre-release 3.10.0-rc1).

Set a country and MyGarage uses that country's inspection schedule, fuel pump names, tax types and insurance terms. Without a country nothing changes.

Profiles ship for France, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Any other EU country uses an EU baseline.

Setting the Country

MyGarage uses the first of these that is set:

  1. The vehicle's registration country: Basic Information on the vehicle. Use it for a car registered in another country than yours.
  2. Your country: Quick settings → Country.
  3. The default country: Settings → System (admins). This covers everyone who hasn't picked a country.

Inspection Reminders

With a country and the vehicle's first registration date set, MyGarage keeps one reminder for the country's periodic inspection (contrôle technique, HU, APK, ITV...).

  • Log the inspection as a service visit item of type State or safety inspection and the next one counts from that date. A failed item schedules a re-test.
  • To turn it off, open Quick settings and clear Schedule the periodic technical inspection automatically.

Registration Certificate Import

The EU registration certificate (carte grise, Zulassungsbescheinigung, kentekenbewijs...) can fill in a vehicle for you.

  • New vehicle: in Add Vehicle, use Import a registration certificate on the VIN step.
  • Existing vehicle: Edit on the vehicle, then Import registration certificate. It fills empty fields only and files the certificate under Documents.

The holder's name is never read. If the certificate shows the next inspection date (field X.1), the inspection reminder counts down to it. Check every value before you save.

A PDF with text is read on your server. A photo or a scan needs a vision model; see below.

Reading Photos and Scans

Off by default. An admin turns it on in Settings → Integrations → Read uploaded documents with a vision model. It's used for registration certificates and insurance documents.

With a local model (Ollama) the image never leaves your server. If the model is outside your network, MyGarage asks before it sends anything.

European VINs

NHTSA often can't decode a European VIN. MyGarage fills in the make from a built-in table, so you may still need to type the model and year. Importing the registration certificate is the quickest way to fill in the rest.

Recalls (France)

Vehicles registered in France also get recalls from RappelConso, the French government's recall register. It has no VIN, so a recall is matched on the make, the model and the dates, and shows how confident the match is. Check the notice before you act on it. You can turn it off in Settings → Integrations.

Fuel

  • With a country set, the fill-up form offers the names on that country's pumps and fills in the EN 16942 label (E5, E10, B7...) and the octane.
  • Octane is saved as RON (Europe) or AKI (North America), so the two don't get mixed up.
  • In France, a fill-up at a saved station shows that station's current pump prices. Use this price copies one into the form. You can turn it off in Settings → Integrations.

Taxes, Insurance and Tolls

  • Taxes: extra tax types such as Registration Tax, CO₂ Malus, Circulation Tax, Vignette and Low-Emission Zone Sticker.
  • Insurance: the Third Party and Third Party Extended formulas, European coverages, and a No-claims class per vehicle (bonus-malus, SF class...).
  • Tolls: French, Spanish and Portuguese toll systems.

Vehicle Details

The vehicle can also store its Euro class, fiscal power (CV) and CO₂. In France it shows the Crit'Air sticker these work out to.
