After reconsidering the economics, I have come to the conclusion that an adjustable negative grid power setpoint would offer very little financial benefit in my situation. With an electricity import/export price ratio of 25:1, I initially thought that maintaining a slightly negative grid power setpoint would be worthwhile. However, assuming an average grid import of just 2 W over 14 hours per day, the annual cost amounts to approximately €2.59. Even if an adjustable negative setpoint eliminated this import entirely, the additional energy exported would also have an economic cost. Given these figures, I don't think the potential savings justify additional development effort by HomeWizard. Sometimes, zero is close enough to zero. 😊 |

I would like to request an adjustable grid power setpoint for the HomeWizard Plug-In Battery, including negative values.
In my situation, importing electricity costs approximately €0.25/kWh, while exporting electricity generates only €0.01/kWh. This creates a price ratio of 25:1.
With such a large difference, targeting exactly 0 W is not necessarily the most economical strategy. Due to fluctuations in household consumption and the response time of the battery, short periods of expensive grid import can occur.
Allowing users to set a small negative grid power target, for example -50 W, would create a buffer against these fluctuations. The cost of exporting a small amount of electricity could be significantly lower than the cost of the grid import it prevents.
The optimal setpoint depends on the household's consumption profile, battery response time and electricity tariffs.
My request: Please introduce a user-adjustable grid power setpoint, including a limited negative range, while maintaining the existing safety and regulatory restrictions.
Are there other HomeWizard users who would benefit from this feature?
